  • The following recipe serves 2 people.

Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon plain flour
  • 2 lamb shanks, about 1 kilogram for the 2 and prefer rear leg as they are meatier
  • 1/2 brown onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup red wine
  • 350 ml pasta cooking sauce (tomato based or passata if you prefer)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Season flour with salt and pepper, then coat lamb in flour, shaking off excess and add to pan and cook until browned.

  • Step 2: Remove from pan and transfer to bowl of the slow cooker.

  • Step 3: To the same pan add onion and garlic and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.

  • Step 4: Increase heat to high and add wine to pan and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Step 5: Stir in pasta sauce and bring to a simmer and then pour over the lamb shanks in the slow cooker bowl, cover and cook for 6 to 8 hours on low or 2 to 4 hours on low (time will depend on the size of the lamb shanks and slow cookers do vary in cooking times between brands).

  • Step 6: I am planning on doing the full recipe but only serve one shank with mash and vegetables and then shred the other to use at a later date over pasta as a second meal, I believe the meat sauce will freeze well.
