Step 1: In a bowl, sift flour with baking powder, sugar and salt.
Step 2: In a separate bowl, add beaten egg, milk and softened butter .
Step 3: Mix until well mixed.
Step 4: Add liquid mixture to dry ingredients and beat until well combined, know that batter will be lumpy. Set aside to allow batter to rest.
Step 5: Heat syrup in a saucepan until hot (about 110 degrees).
Step 6: Pour rinsed berries into a blender and puree until smooth.
Step 7: Stir berry puree into heated syrup and remove from heat and allow to stand for 45 minutes before serving.
Step 8: (Syrup can be strained with a wire strainer for a thinner, clearer consistency if desired.)
