Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 20 ounces frozen green beans
  • Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt, to taste
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 ounces Velveeta cheese, diced (1/2 cup)
  • Topping
  • 2 ounces parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Butter a 9x13 casserole.

  • Step 3: (I'm just microwaving beans to get hot)

  • Step 4: 1 lb. 4 oz. cut green beans frozen or 3 c. fresh green beans

  • Step 5: Boil them in salted water until they are just underdone.

  • Step 6: Meanwhile, melt 4 tablespoons of butter, add 4 tablespoons of flour, 1 teaspoon salt ( they used more salt back in the day, season to taste)and a good pinch of dry mustard in a skillet

  • Step 7: Cook over low heat until bubbly.

  • Step 8: Add 1 1/2 cups milk, cook until thick and smooth.

  • Step 9: Add 1/2 cup Velveeta processed cheese grated or diced off the heat.

  • Step 10: Stir until all is melted.

  • Step 11: Add the beans and pour into the buttered casserole.

  • Step 12: Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and paprika.

  • Step 13: Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until hot and bubbly.
