Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 x 340 gram packet butter cake mix( any cheap no name brand will do, I use vanilla cake mix)
  • 90 grams desiccated coconut, (1 cup)
  • 125 grams butter, melted
  • 1 x 400 grams tinned can apple pieces, drained just a little
  • 300 grams sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon sugar
  • 1 egg

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat the oven to 180°c & grease a 20cm square cake pan; line the pan base & the two opposite sides with baking paper, extending the paper 5cm over edge of pan, for lifting later.

  • Step 2: Combine the cake mix, coconut and butter in a medium bowl and press the mixture evenly over base of prepared pan.

  • Step 3: Place in oven and cook for 15 minutes, or until lightly browned; set aside to cool slightly.

  • Step 4: While waiting whisk together the sour cream and egg.

  • Step 5: Spread the apple evenly over base, then spread sour cream /egg mixed together evenly over apple and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

  • Step 6: Cook for further 20 minutes, or until sour cream has set.

  • Step 7: Cool the slice in the pan.

  • Step 8: Cut the slice into fingers to serve.
