Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Melt the butter in the bottom of a loaf pan (9x5x3 in.).
Step 3: Sprinkle the brown sugar and nuts over the butter and arrange the cherries.
Step 4: In a bowl sift the dry ingredients.
Step 5: Stir in the combined egg, milk, juice, butter and bran, only enough to moisten.
Step 6: Add the remaining cherries and nuts.
Step 7: Pour the batter over the mixture.
Step 8: Bake for 60 minutes or until a tester comes away clean.
Step 9: Remove to a rack.
Step 10: Serve sliced hot or cold.
