Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Crockpot
  • 10 cups water
  • 4 pounds whole chicken
  • 12 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 inch piece ginger, sliced
  • 1 onion, cut in half
  • 3 scallion white parts, roots also
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
  • Garnish
  • 3 scallions, finely chopped to garnish
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper ,to taste
  • 3 tablespoons Gochugaru
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, smashed
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

How to Make

  • Step 1: Put crockpot ingredients into the crockpot.

  • Step 2: Season chicken.

  • Step 3: Cook low and slow for 8 hours.

  • Step 4: Remove chicken, debone and deskin.

  • Step 5: Shred.

  • Step 6: Strain the soup.

  • Step 7: Plate: put cooked rice in bowl.

  • Step 8: Place some shredded chicken on top.

  • Step 9: Add minced green onions.

  • Step 10: Season lightly and add strained broth over.

  • Step 11: Can add garnish topping to taste in each bowl, they serve it just straight sometimes.
