Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cucumber, 8 to 10 inches long
  • 1 cup onion, cut into small chunks
  • 1 lemon,juiced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 15 sprigs fresh dill
  • 1 clove garlic, smashed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce, or to taste
  • 6 ounces sour cream (3/4 cup)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Peel cucumber, slice lengthwise and remove seeds. Cut into small chunks.

  • Step 2: In a mixing bowl, combine cucumber, onion, lemon and lime juices, dill (without the stems) and garlic.

  • Step 3: Add buttermilk, salt, pepper and hot sauce.

  • Step 4: Let rest about 30 minutes.

  • Step 5: Transfer mixture to a food processor or blender.

  • Step 6: If you prefer an extra-fine and smoother consistency, process the mixture longer

  • Step 7: An immersion blender also can be used.

  • Step 8: Transfer to a bowl and adjust seasonings.

  • Step 9: Cover and refrigerate 3 to 4 hours.
