The ingredients are:

  • 1 pound hot italian sausage
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 28 ounces diced tomatoes (1 can)
  • 14 ounces dried lentils (2 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
  • 1 bay leaf

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat large pot with the oil.

  • Step 2: Add veggies and sauté until tender.

  • Step 3: Remove vegetables from the pan to a Pam sprayed crockpot.

  • Step 4: Remove the casings from the Italian sausages.

  • Step 5: Add the Italian sausage to the pan.

  • Step 6: Brown, then drain off fat.

  • Step 7: Add to crockpot.

  • Step 8: Pour 8 cups for chicken broth into the crockpot .

  • Step 9: Add tomatoes and lentils.

  • Step 10: Add remaining ingredients.

  • Step 11: Turn on low cooking for 6 hours, adding water as needed.

  • Step 12: Correct the seasonings and remove bay leaf.
