Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup of butter (room temperature)
  • 1 egg beaten (room temperature)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Jam, jelly or maraschino cherries for centre of cookies

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350.

  • Step 2: In large bowl cream butter, and vanilla.

  • Step 3: Add beaten egg.

  • Step 4: Add dry ingredients and mix well.

  • Step 5: Roll teaspoons full into balls, put on cookie sheet (I like to line cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone non-stick mat).

  • Step 6: Press finger in centre, fill with jam, jelly or a maraschino cherry.

  • Step 7: Bake 10 - 12 minutes until golden brown.
