Step 1: Put a large pot of salted water on high heat and bring it to a boil; add the pasta and cook for 5 minutes; add asparagus and cook for another 2 minutes or until pasta is tender and asparagus is crisp-tender; drain but reserve 1 cup cooking water.
Step 2: In a large skillet over medium heat heat the oil and then add the garlic and saute for under a minute. Stir in the pasta and asparagus along with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper and 1 cup of the reserved cooking water; toss. Remove from heat and add the mozzarella, prosciutto and basil and toss. Transfer to bowls and serve.
