Step 1: Mix shortening, sugar and eggs.
Step 2: Stir in milk and vanilla.
Step 3: Sift flour, soda and salt.
Step 4: Stir into mixture.
Step 5: Add walnuts.
Step 6: Chill for an hour or so. (This appears more like a batter than a dough.)
Step 7: When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Step 8: Drop by rounded teaspoons, two inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
Step 9: Bake for about 10 minutes.
Step 10: Cool and ice with Burnt Butter Glaze.
Step 11: Heat 2 tablespoons butter until yellow brown.
Step 12: Beat in two cups confectioner's sugar, 1/4 cup undiluted Carnation evaporated milk and a bit of vanilla.
Step 13: Spread on cooled cookies.
