Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds broccoli florets (this is about 8 cups)
  • 1/2 pound green beans, trimmed
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, sliced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Over medium high heat bring a pot of salted water to a boil and then add the broccoli and cook for 2 minutes; using a slotted spoon transfer to a large bowl of ice water; drain.

  • Step 2: In the same pot of boiling water cook the green beans for 3-5 minutes; drain and add the green beans to a bowl of ice water. Vegetables can be prepared 8 hours ahead; dry and refrigerate in a large plastic bag.

  • Step 3: In a large skillet over medium high heat add the oil and then add the garlic and 1 1/2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes and saute for under a minutes; using a slotted spoon remove garlic and discard. Stir in broccoli, green beans and 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper and saute until vegetables are heated and crisp tender. (5 minutes) If desired season with more red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.
