How to Make

  • Step 1: Wash the carrots well.

  • Step 2: Place them in a 2-quart saucepan.

  • Step 3: Pour water until it covers the carrots completely.

  • Step 4: Cover the saucepan with a lid and allow water to boil over high heat.

  • Step 5: Cook carrots for about 7 minutes.

  • Step 6: Discard half of the water from the saucepan.

  • Step 7: Add the butter, sugar, and salt.

  • Step 8: Stir until well-combined.

  • Step 9: Cover the pan once again and cook until carrots are tender, but not mushy, about 6 to 7 more minutes.

  • Step 10: Adjust taste as necessary by adding more brown sugar and/or salt.

  • Step 11: Check for doneness by sticking a carrot with the fork.

  • Step 12: It should poke through easily but should still be a little firm and crisp.
