Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 7 ounces dry jasmine rice, (1 cup)
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed, (they had 6)
  • 1 green onion, minced
  • 1 French shallot, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Pour enough water so there is at least two inches over the rice and let soak for 30 minutes, then rinse the rice and drain.

  • Step 2: Heat the butter and oil until melted.

  • Step 3: Add the garlic and shallots, and stir until soft and fragrant, about 1 minute.

  • Step 4: Add green onion.

  • Step 5: Stir in the rice, salt, pepper and turmeric, and stir for about 3 minutes to toast the rice a little.

  • Step 6: Then add chicken broth.

  • Step 7: Wait until mixture boils, and then reduce heat to a low simmer, and cover rice to cook for 20 minutes.

  • Step 8: Take off heat and let set 5 minutes covered.
