Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 large white onions, diced
  • 4 fresh garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons dark chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon hot Hungarian paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon dark molasses
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 dash Tabasco sauce
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3 (14 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
  • 2 (14 ounce) cans dark red kidney beans
  • 1 (11 ounce) can mexicorn
  • 1 (4 ounce) can sliced black olives
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • Sliced green onions, to serve
  • Shredded cheese, to serve
  • Sour cream, to serve

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large pot, brown ground beef with onion. Drain.

  • Step 2: Add garlic and dry spices. Cook stirring for 2 minutes until fragrant.

  • Step 3: Add tomato paste, molasses, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco sauce. Stir until combined.

  • Step 4: Stir in the rest of the ingredients (except vinegar). Bring to a boil. Turn down heat to low and cook uncovered for 1 hour, stirring a few times.

  • Step 5: Add balsamic vinegar. Stir.

  • Step 6: Serve hot with shredded cheese, sour cream and chopped green onions.
