Step 1: Heat the olive oil in a large soup pot.
Step 2: Add the onion and sauté for 8 minutes, until translucent.
Step 3: Add the tomato paste.
Step 4: Reduce the heat to low.
Step 5: Add the crushed tomatoes, water and seasoning to taste.
Step 6: Turn heat to medium-high and bring to a boil.
Step 7: Add the rice and stir well.
Step 8: Reduce the heat to low again, cover and let simmer for about 35 minutes.
Step 9: Check seasoning.
