Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 28 ounces tomatoes, crushed (1 can)
  • 3 cups water
  • 4 ounces dry white rice, (1/2 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon dry parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp celery salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat the olive oil in a large soup pot.

  • Step 2: Add the onion and sauté for 8 minutes, until translucent.

  • Step 3: Add the tomato paste.

  • Step 4: Reduce the heat to low.

  • Step 5: Add the crushed tomatoes, water and seasoning to taste.

  • Step 6: Turn heat to medium-high and bring to a boil.

  • Step 7: Add the rice and stir well.

  • Step 8: Reduce the heat to low again, cover and let simmer for about 35 minutes.

  • Step 9: Check seasoning.
