Step 1: Sift the flour into a bowl, then and add the sugar and coconut & mix well to combine.
Step 2: Add the melted butter to the dry ingredients & mix well.
Step 3: Press the mixture into a greased tin (approx. 28cm x 18cm). Bake at 180C for 15 minutes.
Step 4: Add vanilla to the eggs and lightly beat; add the coconut, chopped walnuts, brown sugar and baking powder & mix well.
Step 5: Spread the mixture over the partly-cooked base and return to oven for a further 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is cooked.
Step 6: Cool in the tin, and cut into squares.
