Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef, cooked and drained
  • 16 ounces beans (chili beans, one can)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Ingredients #2
  • 1 cup cornmeal, yellow
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk (whole milk)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 14 ounces cream style corn (one can)
  • 2 cups cheese (Mexican Style shredded cheese)
  • 4 ounces green chilies, chopped (one can)
  • 1/2 cup onions, chopped

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Step 2: Grease a 2 quart rectangle (8x11.5x2) baking dish and sprinkle with yellow cornmeal.

  • Step 3: While cooking the hamburger, mix all of the #2 ingredients together in a medium bowl. Set aside.

  • Step 4: After cooking and draining the hamburger, stir in the other #1 ingredients with the hamburger and mix well.

  • Step 5: Pour ½ the cornbread batter into the baking dish. (which is,ingredients #2)

  • Step 6: Add the meat mixture on top of that. (ingredients #1)

  • Step 7: Finish off with adding the rest of the cornbread batter on top of the meat mixture.

  • Step 8: Bake for 40-45 minutes or until done.
