  • 5 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon ham bullion
  • 8 ounces ham, diced
  • 1 ½ pound potatoes, peeled, cubed
  • 1 carrot, peeled, diced
  • 2 leeks, sliced
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg, to taste
  • 1/2 cup steel cut oats
  • 12 ounces frozen kale
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a Pam sprayed crockpot, add everything but kale, use ham bullion to taste.

  • Step 2: Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 8 hours or on high-heat setting for 5 hours.

  • Step 3: Stir in kale.

  • Step 4: If on low-heat setting, turn to high-heat setting. Cover and cook for 30 minutes more.
