Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cups self raising flour
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 ounces cheddar cheese, grated, (1/2 cup)
  • 4 ounces sour cream (1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 cup water

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F

  • Step 2: Place flour, chives, paprika and salt into a large bowl.

  • Step 3: Cut in butter using knife until like breadcrumbs.

  • Step 4: Stir in cheese, reserving 2 tablespoons.

  • Step 5: Whisk together sour cream and water.

  • Step 6: Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in sour cream.

  • Step 7: Mix together using a knife until mixture comes together.

  • Step 8: Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently until smooth.

  • Step 9: Pat out to a 8" circle.

  • Step 10: Place on a baking tray and mark into wedges with a knife like soda bread.

  • Step 11: Sprinkle over remaining cheese.

  • Step 12: Bake for 15 minutes, then move to bottom rack of oven and cook for a further 10 minutes until risen and sounds hollow when tapped.

  • Step 13: Wrap in a clean tea towel to keep warm.

  • Step 14: Serve warm with butter.
