  • 1 cup onions, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 7 ounces red lentils, washed & drained (1 cup)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable bouillon

How to Make

  • Step 1: Get spices all together .

  • Step 2: In covered stockpot, heat oil.

  • Step 3: Add onions, carrots and tomato and stir until softened.

  • Step 4: Add garlic and tomato paste, don't burn.

  • Step 5: Add spices, they used more, season to taste.

  • Step 6: Add lentils, water and vegetable bouillon.

  • Step 7: Simmer on low, stirring occasionally so it doesn't burn until water is absorbed and everything is mushy about 40 minutes.

  • Step 8: Use immersion blender to make smooth.
