  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/8 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat a little oil and butter in a heavy based saucepan and sauté the onions, over a medium heat, until softened.

  • Step 2: This will take about 20 minutes.

  • Step 3: Add the sugar, wine vinegar and a little salt and continue to cook for another 5 minutes.

  • Step 4: Serve on the side as a topping.
