Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 head(2 pounds) cabbage
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled, whole
  • 2 cups onions, peeled, quartered
  • 6 carrots, peeled, cut into thirds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon whole peppercorns
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled, quartered
  • 2 teaspoons chicken bouillon
  • 3 pounds ham, sliced
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Rinse and cut cabbage into wedges.

  • Step 2: Put cabbage into large soup kettle along with garlic cloves, onions and carrots.

  • Step 3: Just cover vegetables with water

  • Step 4: Add parsley,bay leaf,boullion and peppercorns to soup kettle.

  • Step 5: Bring to boil

  • Step 6: Lower heat to low and allow to simmer for 1 hour.

  • Step 7: Peel and quarter potatoes.

  • Step 8: Add to vegetables

  • Step 9: Add ham

  • Step 10: Simmer for 30 minutes.

  • Step 11: Season to taste
