The ingredients are:
  • Spice mix:
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • Chicken:
  • 1 whole (3 pounds) chicken
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cup celery rib,chopped
  • 1 cup red onion, chopped roughly
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 pounds baby carrots
  • 1 pound beets,small
  • 1 package (16 ounces) frozen brussels sprouts
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon dijon mustard

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix spice mix

  • Step 2: Pam spray slow cooker

  • Step 3: Remove giblets if there is

  • Step 4: Sprinkle chicken with spice mixture lightly.to taste

  • Step 5: Place lemon into cavity of chicken.

  • Step 6: Tie legs together with kitchen string, and tuck wingtips under.

  • Step 7: Place celery, onion, and garlic in a single layer in a lightly greased 6-quart slow cooker.

  • Step 8: Place chicken on top of onion mixture, breast side up.

  • Step 9: Arrange and tuck remaining vegetables around chicken.

  • Step 10: Sprinkle vegetables with spice mixture to taste.

  • Step 11: Cover and cook on low 8 hours or until done. Remove chicken to a serving dish.

  • Step 12: Rub skins from beets and cut into quarters

  • Step 13: Arrange with other vegetables around chicken. Whisk mustard into remaining cooking juices in slow cooker

  • Step 14: Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Step 15: Serve sauce with chicken.
