Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Sauce:
  • 1/8 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup onions, diced
  • 1 stalk celery, diced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, smashed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 can (28 ounces) tomatoes,crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 cup parsley, chopped (called for a cup)
  • 1 can (6 ounces) mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 ounces parmesan cheese, grated
  • Meatballs:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3/4 pound ground pork
  • 1/4 pound ground veal
  • 1/2 cup onions, minced
  • 1 stalk celery,minced
  • 1 clove garlic, smashed
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • Pasta:
  • 16 ounces dry spaghetti
  • 6 cups water, boiling
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat oil in stock pot

  • Step 2: Add onions

  • Step 3: Add bell pepper

  • Step 4: Add celery

  • Step 5: Cook until translucent

  • Step 6: Smash garlic with salt to make a paste

  • Step 7: Add to veggies

  • Step 8: Add tomato paste

  • Step 9: Cook a minute

  • Step 10: Add tomatoes

  • Step 11: Add water that you have rinsed the cans out with

  • Step 12: Add bay leaf and herbs

  • Step 13: Simmer on very low stirring occasionally adding water as needed

  • Step 14: Cook 4 hours(crockpot might be good)

  • Step 15: In 3 hours saute veggies in oil and add to meat that's been mixed

  • Step 16: Add seasoning and eggs and flour

  • Step 17: Make small balls and saute in olive oil until brown

  • Step 18: Add to sauce last half hour of cooking along with the mushrooms

  • Step 19: Simmer

  • Step 20: Checking seasoning and adjusting

  • Step 21: Meanwhile

  • Step 22: Cook spaghetti in heavily salted boiling water al dente

  • Step 23: Drain

  • Step 24: Last 10 minutes add parsley

  • Step 25: Check seasoning

  • Step 26: Sprinkle cheese on top serve sauce over cooked pasta
