Step 1: In a saucepan
Step 2: Combine 1 cup of water with the sugar, raspberries, lemon zest, mint and salt.
Step 3: Bring to a simmer and cook until the sugar has dissolved and the raspberries have broken apart
Step 4: 2 minutes.
Step 5: Remove from the heat and let cool completely, then strain into a pitcher.
Step 6: Add the remaining 3 cups of water, the lemon juice, vodka if using and fill with ice.
Step 7: Stir until well chilled, then serve.
