  • 1 can (15 ounces) white hominy
  • 1 can ( 7 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 ounces)diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 1 cup yellow onions,diced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, smashed
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dark chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a stock pot

  • Step 2: Brown the onions for five minutes in fat .

  • Step 3: Add the garlic and cook for one minute until aromatic.

  • Step 4: Add spices not herbs

  • Step 5: Add the ground turkey and brown the meat .

  • Step 6: Add both cans of tomatoes (diced and sauce), the chicken stock, and all the dry herbs, then bring to a heavy simmer.

  • Step 7: Cook for 30 minutes, uncovered, on medium-low heat until it reaches desired consistency.

  • Step 8: Add salt and pepper needed
