  • Bean:
  • 2 cloves garlic, leave whole
  • 2 tablespoons onion,leave whole
  • 2 tablespoons green bell pepper,leave whole
  • 2 cans (30 ounces) red beans, undrained
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro,leave whole
  • 4 cups water
  • Refried:
  • 4 tablespoons oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin,to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt,to taste
  • 1/2 cup onion,sliced

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat the bean portion for 30 minutes

  • Step 2: Take out the herbs and vegetables

  • Step 3: Blend with a cup of bean water be careful blending hot liquids (don't wash blender yet)

  • Step 4: Add back to beans

  • Step 5: Meanwhile caramelize onions in 2 tablespoons oil until almost black

  • Step 6: Add back into blender

  • Step 7: With beans

  • Step 8: Fry mixture adding some more oil in same pan as you cooked onions in

  • Step 9: Allow the bottom to toast a bit

  • Step 10: Cook until hot
