  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 3/8 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • Raisins:
  • 1/2 cup sultanas
  • 1 cup water, boiling
  • Filling:
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam
  • 4 ounces clotted cream,(1/2 cup)
  • Egg wash:
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk

How to Make

  • Step 1: Soak raisins in water 30 minutes

  • Step 2: Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  • Step 3: Mix the flour, baking powder, butter and sugar together in a bowl, until a crumb is formed

  • Step 4: In a separate bowl

  • Step 5: Whisk the eggs and buttermilk together

  • Step 6: Add the liquid to the crumb mixture

  • Step 7: Continue to mix the dough until smooth

  • Step 8: Add the sultanas,

  • Step 9: And mix until evenly distributed

  • Step 10: Remove the dough from the bowl, flatten the dough and cover

  • Step 11: Leave to rest for approximately 30 minutes

  • Step 12: Roll out the dough to a thickness of 2.5 centimeters and cut to desired shape

  • Step 13: Rest the scones for another 20 minutes

  • Step 14: Gently egg wash the top of the scones

  • Step 15: Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown

  • Step 16: Cool before serving with jam and clotted cream
