The ingredients are:
  • 3 cups fresh shrimp
  • 3 quarts buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 English cucumbers, coarsely chopped, plus thin slices for garnish
  • 3 tablespoons fresh dill
  • 2 tablespoons dry mustard
  • 3 tablespoons dill pickle, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Cayenne pepper, to taste
  • Kosher or sea salt, to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cook shrimp in boiling water until tender (it goes quick, so please try to not overdo the cooking to prevent it from turning dry and rubbery). Once the shrimp turns pink, it's done. Remove shrimp from water with a perforated ladle. Peel, and chop into pieces. Combine all ingredients, adding cayenne and salt to taste. Mix well, and chill. Serve garnished with cucumber slices.
