Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 1/2 pounds green cabbage,chopped
  • 6 ounces bacon cut into 1 inch pieces,(6 slices)
  • 1/2 cups tomato,chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper,to taste
  • 1 teaspoon salt,to taste
  • 3 tablespoons butter

How to Make

  • Step 1: Remove the cabbage core and discard the core.

  • Step 2: Slice the cabbage into 1 to 2-inch pieces.

  • Step 3: In a very large skillet saute bacon over medium heat until it has cooked until limp. (Can use pepper bacon)

  • Step 4: Remove

  • Step 5: Do not drain the grease.

  • Step 6: Add butter

  • Step 7: Add bell pepper /onion if using diced here(1 cup)

  • Step 8: Add cabbage to the skillet, and add 1 1/2 cups of water to the skillet.

  • Step 9: Place a lid over the pot. It may not fit all of the way, that's ok. the cabbage will cook down.

  • Step 10: Keep moving cabbage around so gets evenly cooked

  • Step 11: After 10 minutes add the chopped tomato bacon,pepper, and salt.(to taste)

  • Step 12: Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes
