Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 - 2 pounds skinless chicken breast halves (can use boneless or bone-in. Can also use dark bone-in meat, but may need to adjust the cooking time slightly. Remove visible fat.)
  • 12 ounce can mushroom gravy (can also use 1 envelope of the dry Mushroom gravy mix, such as, McCormick's)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 8 ounce can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 2 (4 ounce each) can chopped green chilies (if using hot, may want to use only 1 can depending on how you can handle it)
  • .7 ounce (1 envelope) Italian salad dressing mix (Good Season's brand preferred)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste, Optional
  • 1 tablespoon mushroom seasoning (Optional, Trader Joe's Umami seasoning blend)
  • 1 teaspoon Greek Seasoning (Optional, such as Cavenders all purpose dry Greek seasoning, NO SALT variety)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, cut into cubes

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a slow cooker, combine the chicken,with all remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 4-4 1/2 hours or until chicken is tender.

  • Step 2: Serve with mashed potatoes or rice and a side of veggies if preferred.

  • Step 3: We've also served a portion of the chicken shredded in tacos to please the kiddos.
