Step 1: Soak beans overnight
Step 2: Drain
Step 3: Spray crockpot with Pam
Step 4: Add beans to Crockpot
Step 5: Heat butter and oil
Step 6: Cook onions until soft
Step 7: Add tomato paste and spices
Step 8: Add water
Step 9: Pour into crockpot
Step 10: Add rest of ingredients
Step 11: Simmer on low 8 hours
Step 12: Crush cooked garlic and add back in at the end
Step 13: Adding water as needed
Step 14: Season to taste at end
Step 15: Remove chili pepper
Step 16: Serve
