  • 2 cups rye breadcrumbs
  • 1 can (16 ounces) sauerkraut
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • Topping:
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

How to Make

  • Step 1: PreHeat oven to 375 degrees F

  • Step 2: Pam spray a 9x13 casserole dish

  • Step 3: Combine the ketchup and brown sugar.

  • Step 4: Set aside.

  • Step 5: Cook the onion and garlic in the butter until soft.

  • Step 6: Put all the meatloaf ingredients into a large bowl. Mix together.

  • Step 7: Form the meat into a loaf in a casserole dish.

  • Step 8: Bake in a preheated 375-degree F oven for about 1 hour.

  • Step 9: After 40 minutes baste with the ketchup and brown sugar mixture.
