Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3 tablespoons butter ,(for jars)
  • 2/3 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rye flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 egg

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 325° F

  • Step 2: And set a rack to the middle position.

  • Step 3: Generously butter and Pam spray 3 pint-size wide mouthed Mason jars and set aside.

  • Step 4: In a large bowl

  • Step 5: Whisking

  • Step 6: Combine the cornmeal, wheat flour, rye flour, baking powder, soda, and salt.

  • Step 7: Add raisins

  • Step 8: In a medium-size bowl

  • Step 9: Whisk together the buttermilk, oil, and molasses. Whisk the large egg into the liquid ingredients

  • Step 10: Add the liquid to the dry ingredients and stir.

  • Step 11: Divide the batter equally among the Mason jars.

  • Step 12: Arrange the jars on a baking sheet

  • Step 13: Transfer the baking sheet to the oven, and bake for 35 minutes or until a tester comes out clean.

  • Step 14: Wipe jar down

  • Step 15: Put lid on to seal now

  • Step 16: Allow to cool, then remove the bread from the jars (run a Pam sprayed butter knife along the inside of the jar if it needs help) and slice into rounds.

  • Step 17: Serve warm or at room temperature.
