Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 24 ounces beef tenderloin steaks (4 steaks, 6 ounces each)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled, chopped
  • 3 ounces sliced baby bella mushrooms
  • 8 ounces heavy cream,(1 cup)
  • 1 cup chicken broth,(8 ounces)
  • 1/4 teaspoon marmite,(optional)
  • 2 tablespoons whiskey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced

How to Make

  • Step 1: Season the steaks with salt and pepper ,to taste. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a hot skillet.

  • Step 2: Add the steaks and cook over medium heat for about 4 minutes per side.

  • Step 3: Remove to a plate and keep warm.

  • Step 4: Add the 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet over low heat.

  • Step 5: Add the onion and cook until soft.

  • Step 6: Add the mushrooms and garlic.

  • Step 7: Cook until mushrooms are soft.

  • Step 8: Stir in the whiskey, cream, chicken broth and Marmite if you are using it.

  • Step 9: Increase the heat and cook to reduce the liquid. When you reach a nice consistency, remove the sauce from the heat.

  • Step 10: Taste and adjust seasonings.

  • Step 11: Add the juices from the steaks and the parsley. Serve the sauce over the steaks.

  • Step 12: Garnish with more parsley.
