  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 egg whites, beaten stiff
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

  • Step 2: Grease and flour 2 8 inch round pans ,Pam sprayed

  • Step 3: Cream shortening

  • Step 4: Add 1 cup sugar

  • Step 5: Sift flour, baking powder, and salt,

  • Step 6: And add to creamed mixture

  • Step 7: Alternately with milk that you have mixed vanilla in

  • Step 8: Fold in chocolate chips .

  • Step 9: Beat egg whites stiff, then beat in rest of sugar to the egg whites.

  • Step 10: Fold into batter

  • Step 11: Pour evenly into cake pans

  • Step 12: Bake in two layer tins, 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees.
