Step 1: In Dutch Oven heat oil over medium heat; cook onion, carrot, celery, garlic, chilli pepper (optional), salt and pepper, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 6 min.
Step 2: Increase heat to medium high; add sausages and sauté for 5 min., breaking up with spoon. Stir in tomatoes, breaking up with spoon. Add beans, chicken broth, water, oregano and sugar; bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer until slightly thickened, 15 to 20 min. Discard chilli pepper (if using).
