  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, smashed
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 pound ground pork
  • 1 can (12 ounces ) tomato paste
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  • Step 1: Heat olive oil

  • Step 2: Saute onions

  • Step 3: Saute garlic

  • Step 4: Add meat

  • Step 5: Cook until browned

  • Step 8: Cook but don't burn

  • Step 9: Add water to can

  • Step 10: Add to pan

  • Step 11: Simmer 1 hour adding water as needed

  • Step 12: Stirring occasionally
