Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Meat:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper, to taste
  • Rice:
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots
  • 7 ounces basmati rice, rinsed,(1 cup)
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1 teaspoon beef bouillon powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Garnish:
  • 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds

How to Make

  • Step 1: Add ground beef to a pan on medium heat and season with salt, pepper, allspice, and garlic powder.

  • Step 2: Break the meat apart into smaller pieces and let this cook for 5-8 minutes until cooked through and lightly browned.

  • Step 3: Meanwhile

  • Step 4: While the meat is cooking,

  • Step 5: Add olive oil to a pot along with the peas and carrots.

  • Step 6: Season this with salt and pepper to taste and saute for a few minutes until they begin to cook.

  • Step 7: To the peas and carrots

  • Step 8: Add the rice, bouillon, and cinnamon.

  • Step 9: Stir

  • Step 10: Add stock

  • Step 11: Give it a stir

  • Step 12: Cover

  • Step 13: And let it simmer on low to medium heat for about 20 minutes until the rice is cooked through and water has evaporated.

  • Step 14: Take off the heat and let stand covered 5 minutes

  • Step 15: Fluff the rice gently with a fork.

  • Step 16: Add half of the cooked ground beef to the rice mixture and stir together.

  • Step 17: Check for seasoning

  • Step 18: Plate the rice and top with the rest of the ground beef on top. Can add more peas and carrots

  • Step 19: Top with almonds drizzle with oil
