  • The following recipe serves 8 people.

Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 package (16 ounces) frozen phyllo dough
  • 1/3 cup butter,melted unsalted
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Topping:
  • 1 egg
  • 4 ounces heavy cream,(1/2 cup)
  • Filling:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, smashed
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • 4 ounces white mushrooms, chopped ,(1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 cup green olives, sliced
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Gently lay the thawed phyllo dough between two damp kitchen towels.

  • Step 3: Start working on the meat filling.

  • Step 4: In a saute pan on medium heat

  • Step 5: Add the olive oil

  • Step 6: Add the chopped onions.

  • Step 7: Stir for 3 minutes then add the ground beef.

  • Step 8: Cook for about 10 mix till meat is browned.

  • Step 9: If there is too much fat or liquid at the bottom of the pan, drain the beef of its liquid and then return to heat.

  • Step 10: Add the spices and diced mushrooms and olives. Cook for another 5 minutes till well combined.

  • Step 11: On a lightly greased pan

  • Step 12: Lay 4 pieces of phyllo dough.

  • Step 13: Fold any excess dough inwards.

  • Step 14: Using the oil and butter mixture

  • Step 15: Brush it on top of every phyllo dough layer.

  • Step 16: Keep repeating this step till about 1/2 of the phyllo dough has been used up.

  • Step 17: This will be the base.

  • Step 18: Salt & Pepper to taste every layer very lightly

  • Step 19: Then add the meat mixture.

  • Step 20: Gently spread evenly on top of the piled phyllo.

  • Step 21: Layer the rest of the phyllo dough like before on top of the meat mixture making sure to butter & oil each layer.

  • Step 22: Brush the top with a generous amount of the oil and butter

  • Step 23: Cut the phyllo into squares desired.

  • Step 24: This will make it easier to eat and not fall apart layer on.

  • Step 25: Mix the egg and heavy cream mixture with salt and pepper and evenly coat over the pie.

  • Step 26: Bake the phyllo meat pie for 45 minutes

  • Step 27: Until browned
