Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Hamburger ingredients:
  • 2 pounds ground chuck (can use ground bratwurst sausage, if available- it's more fatty though)
  • ½ cup crushed saltine crackers or Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons milk or beer (drink the rest!)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder, optional
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Toppings:
  • 3-6 ounces Havarti cheese, sliced
  • 3-6 tablespoons Roasted Red Pepper Aioli (#39313)
  • 6-8 tablespoons Fried Sauerkraut (#39314)
  • 1 pound Pretzel buns (store bought - enough for 6-8 burgers)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, add in the ground beef, crushed crackers, egg, Worcestershire sauce, milk or beer, and seasonings.

  • Step 2: Mix by hand until the meat mixture is smooth, but stop once the mixture looks even. (Overmixing can create a dense heavy texture.)

  • Step 3: Form into patties and make a depression in each patty.

  • Step 4: Grill or pan fry until desired doneness.

  • Step 5: Place each patty on pretzel bun and garnish with havarti cheese, Roasted Red Pepper Aioli and Fried Sauerkraut.
