Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cup hazelnuts, chopped finely
  • 3 tablespoons panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons rum
  • 1/2 cup red currant jelly
  • 1/2 cup hazelnut spread
  • 8 ounces heavy cream,whipped

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

  • Step 2: Butter and flour 2 8" cake pans.

  • Step 3: Heavily spray Pam

  • Step 4: In a bowl

  • Step 5: Cream the egg yolks with the sugar until fluffy.

  • Step 6: Add the filberts, panko, and rum.

  • Step 7: Whip the egg whites into stiff peaks and gently fold them into the yolk/sugar mixture.

  • Step 8: Divide batter between the two cake pans

  • Step 9: Bake in a pre-heated 350º oven for 20 minutes. Remove from oven

  • Step 10: Let cool 5 minutes on a cake rack

  • Step 11: Then invert onto the rack and let cool completely.

  • Step 12: Once cakes are completely cool

  • Step 13: Put one cake on the serving plate.

  • Step 14: Spread the Nutella around the perimeter making a 1" ring.

  • Step 15: Then spread a thinnish layer of jelly in the center. Top with the second cake.

  • Step 16: Spread more jelly all over the top of the second cake.

  • Step 17: Frost with the whipped cream.
