  • 6 eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 cups cocoa
  • 3 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 8 ounces sour cream,room temperature
  • 1 cup water, boiling
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons salt

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cream butter

  • Step 2: Add sugar and beat well until lighter in color.

  • Step 3: Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.

  • Step 4: Whisk flour, cocoa, soda and salt

  • Step 5: Add to creamed mixture, alternately with sour cream.

  • Step 6: Slowly add boiling water; mix well.

  • Step 7: Add vanilla.

  • Step 8: Pour batter into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.

  • Step 9: Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.

  • Step 10: Cool in pan for 15 minutes.
