  • 8 apples, peeled, cored, chopped
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 package (18 ounces) pie crust,(2 shells)
  • 1/2 cup cornflakes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

How to Make

  • Step 1: Simmer the apples with sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice for 20 minutes.

  • Step 2: Line a pie pan with half the pastry. (1 pie crust)

  • Step 3: Sprinkle with a layer of cornflakes.

  • Step 4: Pour in the apple mixture and dot with the butter. Cover the top slashed crust, pinch the edges with wet fingers.

  • Step 5: Bake in a 450º oven for 10 minutes, then reduce to 350º, and bake for 25 minutes until the crust is brown and apples tender.

  • Step 6: Sprinkle with powdered sugar while still very hot. Serve hot or cold.
