Step 1: Simmer the apples with sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice for 20 minutes.
Step 2: Line a pie pan with half the pastry. (1 pie crust)
Step 3: Sprinkle with a layer of cornflakes.
Step 4: Pour in the apple mixture and dot with the butter. Cover the top slashed crust, pinch the edges with wet fingers.
Step 5: Bake in a 450º oven for 10 minutes, then reduce to 350º, and bake for 25 minutes until the crust is brown and apples tender.
Step 6: Sprinkle with powdered sugar while still very hot. Serve hot or cold.
