Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Meatballs:
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/8 pound ground pork
  • 3 tablespoons parsley, minced
  • 1/2 cup onion, minced
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 ounces bread, (2 slices)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • Stock:
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 8 ounces light cream,(1/2 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • Garnish:
  • 2 pounds red new potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced

How to Make

  • Step 1: Meatballs:

  • Step 2: 2 slices bread, soaked in milk and squeezed dry

  • Step 3: Mix together beef, pork, parsley, half the onion, 1 tablespoon flour, eggs, bread, salt and pepper.

  • Step 4: Shape into spheres the size of golf balls.

  • Step 5: Simmer in salted water with bay leaf, allspice and onion for 30 minutes.

  • Step 6: To Thicken broth with 3 tablespoons flour.

  • Step 7: Remove 1/2 cup broth and mix with flour until smooth.

  • Step 8: Remove bay leaf

  • Step 9: Return to pan and blend well.

  • Step 10: Simmer for several minutes until thickened

  • Step 11: Remove from heat, and stir in cream.

  • Step 12: Season to taste

  • Step 13: Serve over boiled potatoes.

  • Step 14: Sprinkle with parsley
