Step 1: Heat oven to 425 degrees F.
Step 2: Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 3: Combine buttermilk and onions in medium bowl.
Step 4: Whisk flour, cornmeal, sugar and 1/2 tsp black pepper in large bowl to combine.
Step 5: Add 1/2 cup chilled butter and rub into flour with fingers until it resembles coarse meal.
Step 6: Add buttermilk mixture and stir just till moist clumps form.
Step 7: Turn dough onto floured board and knead gently to combine three or four turns.
Step 8: Roll out to 3/4-inch thickness and cut rounds with a two-inch floured cutter.
Step 9: Place biscuits on sheet pan.
Step 10: Re roll scraps, cut and add to sheet pan.
Step 11: Brush tops with the melted butter and sprinkle the tops with a little more pepper and light sea salt.
Step 12: Bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
Step 13: Cool slightly, serve warm.
