Step 3: Cake:

Step 5: Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and lemon zest.
Step 6: Whisk to combine.
Step 7: To the flour mixture
Step 8: Add lemon juice, lemon extract,vinegar, oil, and water that you have combined
Step 9: Whisk until ingredients are fully combined.
Step 10: Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan.
Step 11: Bake for 25-30 minutes.
Step 12: The cake is done when an inserted toothpick is inserted and comes out clean with a few crumbs, but no wet batter.
Step 13: Let the cake cool while you prepare the frosting.
Step 14: Lemon Buttercream:
Step 15: Using a handheld mixer, beat the butter, sugar, and salt on medium speed until well combined.
Step 16: Add lemon juice, lemon extract and vanilla. Continue to beat for another 3 to 5 minutes, or until creamy.
Step 17: Fold in the lemon zest.
Step 18: Spread the buttercream over the cooled cake.
