Step 1: Place all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Step 2: Reduce heat to medium low and simmer, while stirring until sugar and salt is dissolved.
Step 3: Allow to cool completely.
Step 4: Pour in a large re-sealable plastic bag, add whole chicken and allow to marinate, refrigerated, for 24 hours.
Step 5: Remove from marinade, rinse chicken in cold water and pat dry.
Step 6: The chicken is ready to cook in your desired method.
