Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds chuck roast, cubed small
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • ⅓ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt,( they said 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cloves garlic, diced,( they said 3)
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 pound red potatoes, diced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 8 ounces mushroom, quartered
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon paprika,(they said 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 bag(12 ounces) frozen peas and carrots
  • 16 ounce loaf sourdough bread

How to Make

  • Step 1: Season the beef lightly

  • Step 2: Roll the beef in the flour, seasoned salt, and pepper.

  • Step 3: Make sure it's well coated

  • Step 4: Save flour

  • Step 5: Brown in batches in a skillet with oil on high heat.

  • Step 6: Put in crockpot

  • Step 7: In the same pan cook garlic and onions until the onions are clear.

  • Step 8: Put in crockpot

  • Step 9: Add paprika to pan

  • Step 10: Cook a second

  • Step 11: Add beef broth to deglaze pan

  • Step 12: In the crockpot

  • Step 13: Layer the potatoes, carrots, celery, beef and onion mixture, and mushrooms.

  • Step 14: Pour in hot beef broth & paprika, and worcestershire sauce.

  • Step 15: Mix 3 tablespoons butter and 3 tablespoons seasoned flour

  • Step 16: Cover and cook on low for 7 and a half hours.

  • Step 17: While the stew is cooking, hollow out sourdough bread bowl.

  • Step 18: Use the hollowed out portion and toothpicks to create ears on the bread bowl.

  • Step 19: At end mix in butter flour roux

  • Step 20: Ten minutes before serving, stir in the bag of thawed frozen peas and carrots.

  • Step 21: Check seasoning

  • Step 22: Serve in the prepared bread bowl.
